Digipak

This is our final Digipak that we have decided on. We have used a black and white theme on all of the images which i feel helps them stand out. On the image that has the titles we have used a tool on photoshop to erase the black and white and add the natural colour from the photo to her lips which i also think brings the image out a lot more. The colour links to the titles on the front cover it also brings out the colour  because of the dark colours we have used.
After researching the artist (Rita Ora) we realised she wears a lot tartan clothing so we thought it would be a good idea to incoorporate this into our album cover

Final Advert

Final Advert

This is our final Advert that we have decided to use. We felt that the image of the artist needed to stand out so we used it as the background to our advert. The first font used on both "Rita Ora" and "Debut Album" is a graffiti font which is something from that can be used in the R&B genre. The text "Ora" also shows a messy handwritten font. We have used code at the top right hand corner this can be done using Iphones, Blackberry's. Also, next to it is the official website. In the bottom left we have a quote from a radio station and their logo to help persuade the audience to buy the album. At the other side we have the iTunes, Twitter, Facebook and Spotify logos. This is there to show that people can listen to the songs on these sites.

Draft Advert

This is the draft for our advert. We put this together to see what the advert would look like as a reference. We used a lot of the same things but decided to find a different font to use to make the advert look appealing to the audience.

Rough Cut
This is our first rough cut to our music video. I am pleased with the progress and feel it will look better once completed. The negatives are the blanks in the video but this is because

Thursday, 25 October 2012

The song i have chosen for my music video analysis is Lady Gaga-Paparazzi as it fits in with our genre and also i think the video is very interesting. The storyline to the video is quite unusual showing Lady Gaga with her partner they sit on the balcony and he pushes her off after seeing paparazzi it looks as if she is dead but she lives and shows her trying to kill him after what he did. The colour's of the video are quite light adding to the fun elements of the song.

The song doesn't actually start properly till 2:30 into the video. The first part of the video tells the story. There are a lot of shots of palm trees, a building, a chandelier and also a moving shot of a water fountain. Money thrown on the floor with images of Lady Gaga on, an establishing shot is shown of a bedroom the props and decor of the room give the impression that the character is wealthy. It seems a green screen has been used 2 minutes into the video of a spiral background showing the artist in the middle looking as if shes falling. This then fades into a birds eye view of her lying on the floor as she had been pushed off the balcony she looks dead as paparazzi take photos of her. Special effects have been used once again of newspaper images spiraling into the shot saying "Lady Gaga is Over" as if to say she is dead. The next part of the music video shows two different shots which are played together and switch between shots to the music. The first shot shows the artist being carried into a wheelchair suggesting that she is now disabled. The other shot shows Lady Gaga sitting on a couch with what i would say is provocative clothing which can link in with the theorist Laura Mulvey and her 'Male gaze theory' which shows men will be attracted to her also her "sexy" dance moves on the couch on this shot. Going back to the first shot we see 4 men surrounding Lady Gaga it seems that the more clothes they remove off her the more her body moves.

The next shows the image above of her own money on the money it says "The United States of Gaga". This shows how outrageous the artist is but this is why her fans love gaga. The next shot shows a fragmented cut zoom which goes with the beat of the music showing a pool of blood and a lady slouched over a chair suggesting she has been killed. This happens regularly throughout the rest of the video obviously linking to the story line. Another scene is then added in a long shot showing the artist and others dancing this is typical of the genre for Lady Gaga. The other scene where she is on the couch she seems to be getting very intimate with a male. The different, quirky costumes used in the shots show her personality which is why she is recognized by her fans. The end of the storyline shows her making a drink for her partner and she opens up her ring and pours a unknown powder into the drink and gives it to him. He drinks it and immediately his head drops suggesting he has died and we hear the sound of his glass fall which is shown in a close up. We can hear the phone ring and it says "911 whats your emergency?" she replied "I just killed my boyfriend". The song fades back in with the sound of the ambulance getting louder and louder.

Initial Ideas

After looking at several music videos in the R&B genre we have found some common ideas, settings and story lines. From this we have gained inspiration and have some initial ideas as to what we want to include in our music video.

We want to include;

  • Use of the studio
  • A party scene
  • Bold make- up style
  • The storyline of a girl being cheated on and realising she is better than him
These are the initial ideas that we have for our music video and as we carry on doing research and developing our project our ideas will develop and change. Making the video a lot better and our ideas stronger to improve the end product we create.

Tired of sitting here in my room 0.11-0.13 seconds

With my dress and my lipstick on 0.17- 0.19 secondsYou should see it on me 0.19-0.20 seconds
It's such a shame 0.21- 0.22 seconds
But I know about the girl you called

The one from the park with the pink heels on
 0.25- 0.27 seconds
We're damaged, uneven
0.28-0.29 seconds
Broken, I'm leavin'
 0.29- 0.30 seconds
I'm way too fly for that, yea
 0.30- 0.33 seconds

I won't sit back if you want my love
0.33- 0.36 seconds You act like my love is not enough 0.36-0.38 seconds

Me and all my girls gonna run around town
1.00-1.03 minutes
We can do whatever we want

Rihanna Advert Analysis

The adverts of the artist and their CD’s are released to let the audience know about the release. Normally more than one is brought out to keep the audience entertained and giving them the desire to want more and finally go and buy the product. Rihanna focuses a lot on imagery throughout her products, probably because people find images more appealing than a lot of writing especially when the images are of her. Rhianna has been used as the background to this advert to help it appeal to the audience; the bright colour pallet used in the image brings the image to life. The redness of her hair and lips keeps the audience gazing at the advert to enable them to read what it is about also making her looking provocative to both men and women. The word ‘LOUD’ is something that catches your eye firstly because of the size of the writing the fact that it has spaces in between the letters and also the colour of the writing is different which makes people focus on this. I think the release date at the very bottom of page is the next most eye-catching part of the poster because the background uses a gradient to fade the picture out into blackness the white text shows up well on the background catching the audience’s attention.

Shot Count Task: Rita Ora-How We Do (Party)

I have decided to choose the video in my shot count task because i feel the artist in the video is someone we would want to base our music video around because of the type of songs she produces. Her style is original and unique which makes Rita different from other artists. This task was created to make us count all of the different shots throughout different music videos so that we can get a average number of shots to help us when it comes to creating our music video. To do this task i needed to be focused fully on the video as it was a fast paced and I knew there would be a lot of shots used in the video to keep to the beat of the song. The number of shots i had witnessed when counting was 213 in the 3:59 seconds video. The video mainly consisted of close up and medium shots of the singer and others in the background. Within the music video there are 7 different scenes with Rita Ora in with a different outfit on in each scene, switching to and from each scene throughout the video according to the beat in the song. The song is called "How We Do (Party)" which is what is shown, they are dancing, drinking and having fun. There isn't really any choreography done in the video as it is just full of people dancing around the artist. Some weird costumes like people with rabbit heads on keeping peoples attention on the music video.

Lip Sync Task: Carly Rae Jepson-Call Me Maybe

Julian Opie Picture Firstly, I used photo booth to take a picture of myself so that i could edit it in Photoshop to create the image needed. I firstly used magnetic lasso to outline my hair, once i had done this i had used the eyedropper tool to get a close colour to my hair then filled it in. Using the same tool i outlined my face and the features on my face then again using the eyedropper tool to get correct colours for my face, eyebrows and lips. I then used the tool to outline my clothing and filled it in with the correct colours, also adding detail to my jacket to make it look realistic. I feel that if i had to do this task again i would be a lot more confident as i know what i am doing a lot more and i feel the colours i used for my hair, face, clothes were as close as i could get as i used the tool to do this which i think has helped make the picture look more like me. I would also be a bit more careful when doing the outlines of my face and neck if i had the chance to do this again.
